How to Fix Keyboard Input Delay in Valorant on the ROG Ally (and Similar Devices)

Valorant input delay fix ROG Ally

If you're playing Valorant on the ROG Ally or a similar Windows-based handheld and experiencing keyboard input delay, like your character continuing to move after releasing a key then this guide is for you.

This issue can make Valorant feel unplayable with a keyboard, but the good news is: it's easy to fix. This is a common issue caused by the Armoury Crate SE background service, and it affects not only the Ally but other Windows handhelds as well.

Symptoms of the Bug

  • You let go of a movement key (like W/A/S/D), but your character keeps moving briefly afterward
  • Mouse clicks or abilities feel laggy or delayed
  • Only happens when using an external or built-in keyboard—not a controller

Devices Affected

  • ASUS ROG Ally (X, Z1 and Z1 Extreme)
  • AYANEO handhelds running Windows
  • OneXPlayer Windows handhelds
  • GPD Win series (Windows-based)
  • Any other device using Armoury Crate SE or similar control software for performance modes

Why It Happens

The issue stems from the Armoury Crate SE Service, which manages system performance profiles. For some reason, it interferes with keyboard input polling, causing noticeable delays and ghosting in real-time games.

How to Fix It

  1. Press Win + S and type: Services
  2. Open the Services app
  3. Scroll down and locate:
    Armoury Crate SE Service
  4. Right-click it and choose:
    Stop

Once stopped, input delay will be gone instantly.

Important Notes

  • Set your performance mode (Turbo, Manual, etc.) before stopping the service — you won’t be able to change it afterward unless you restart the service or use an alternative like G-Helper.
  • This fix will need to be reapplied after each reboot, unless you disable the service completely or uninstall Armoury Crate.

Alternative Tools

If you want to avoid doing this every session, consider using:

  • G-Helper (open-source tool that replaces Armoury Crate on some devices)

But be aware it may not support all Ally features, like firmware updates or official fan control.
