How To Upload A Save To Your ASKA Server

Step-by-step guide on how to upload an existing save file to your ASKA dedicated server.

In this guide, we will show you how to upload an existing save from your local PC to your ASKA server. Your tribe keeps all of its progress, so you can jump back in right where you left off.

If you get stuck at any time, GhostCap offers free save transfers. Just reach out to us on Discord.

Danger

Always create a backup of your save files before attempting to move or copy them.

Locating Your ASKA Save

ASKA stores each save in a folder named savegame_ followed by its save ID. You need this ID later.

  1. On your keyboard press Windows Key + R.
  2. Go to this file path
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Sand Sailor Studio\Aska\data

  3. Find the folder of the save you want to upload, for example savegame_84b08_241225160355.
  4. Note down everything after savegame_. This is your save ID, for example 84b08_241225160355.
AppData
└── LocalLow
    └── Sand Sailor Studio
        └── Aska
            └── data
                └── savegame_84b08_241225160355
Tip

Not sure which save is which? Open the meta file inside the save folder with a text editor to see the world name.

Uploading Your Save To Your Server

  1. Log in to the GhostCap Panel and Stop your ASKA server.
  2. Access your ASKA server using SFTP.
  3. Navigate to /.wine/drive_c/users/container/AppData/LocalLow/Sand Sailor Studio/Aska/data/server/ and upload your savegame_ folder, keeping its name the same.
  4. Back in the panel, go to Server Options.
  5. Edit Save File ID and change it to your save ID, for example 84b08_241225160355.
  6. Start your server.

Once uploaded, your server files should look like this.

.wine
└── drive_c
    └── users
        └── container
            └── AppData
                └── LocalLow
                    └── Sand Sailor Studio
                        └── Aska
                            └── data
                                └── server
                                    └── savegame_84b08_241225160355
Tip

Your server loads the save that matches Save File ID. If your server starts a fresh world, check the ID matches your folder name after savegame_.

Note

Uploaded saves keep their own world name. Your server shows that name in the session list instead of the Display Name set in the panel.
