This is how you can change your Factorio dedicated server version. This is handy if you want to upload an old save that you'd like to continue on your server, as newer Factorio versions most likely won't be compatible due to recipe changes and more.
Changing Your Factorio Server Version
We don't recommend using your current save or any current mods on an older version of Factorio. However, if you still want to try, you must first manually download a backup of your save before proceeding with the steps below.
If you're going back to a version before 2.0, you'll need to make sure the Space Age mods are disabled in the folder /mods/mod-list.json.
Change the following to false:
- elevated-rails
- quality
- space-age
We intend to make this process automatic in the coming weeks.
- Log into your GhostCap panel and stop your server.
- In the sidebar, go to
Startup Parameters. - Make sure
Automatic UpdatesareEnabled. - Edit
Factorio VersionandSave Nameto something that isn't your current save. - Restart your server.
All versions, including the latest Factorio versions, can be found here.
Certain versions may require additional setup. Please refer to the console output for more information or contact us.
