In this guide, you'll learn how to install mods on your Factorio server. You can download mods from https://mods.factorio.com/.
Manually Installing Factorio Mods
After finding your desired mods from https://mods.factorio.com/, here's how to install them on your server.
- Log into your GhostCap panel and stop your Factorio server.
- In the left-hand menu, click
File Manager. - Open the
modsfolder. - Drag the mods you want to add into this folder and restart your server. (Limited to 1GB; otherwise, use SFTP.)
Your file structure should look like this:
mods/ ├── mod.zip ├── mod2.zip └── ...
Once installed, you can simply join the server afterward, and it will automatically download them to your game client.
Make sure you install all the dependencies the mod requires. These are listed on the mod download page. On https://mods.factorio.com/, you'll find them on the Downloads tab under Dependencies. They're listed in green.
Automatically Updating Factorio Mods
GhostCap can automatically manage the mods on your server, keeping them up to date when your server first starts. It will update/downgrade your mods depending on the Factorio version you have set. When your server starts, you'll get a list of what is updated or downgraded. This will only work on mods from the Factorio Mods Portal.
- Log into your GhostCap panel and select your server.
- In the sidebar, go to
Startup Parameters. - Ensure your
Factorio Account UsernameandFactorio Account Tokenare set. You can get them from here: https://www.factorio.com/profile. - Set
