How to Change the Seed of Your Minecraft Server

Learn how to change your Minecraft server world seed for a new world generation

The Minecraft server seed controls how your world is generated, including the placement of biomes, structures, and terrain. Here's how to change it.

Changing Level Seed

  1. Access the GhostCap Panel and stop your Minecraft server.
  2. Go to File Manager.
  3. Open server.properties and edit level-seed=.
  4. Edit level-name= to change the world name.
  5. Start your server.
Note

Leave level-seed= blank if you want a random seed. Changing the level-name creates a new world folder, preserving your old world.
