Adjusting Your Minecraft Server Difficulty Settings

Change and manage difficulty settings on your Minecraft server

Modifying your server's difficulty level is the quickest way to customize your survival gameplay experience. Whether you want an intense challenge with dangerous enemies or a relaxing world where you can build without interruption, these steps will help you find the perfect balance.

Steps to Change Server Difficulty

  1. Log into your Ghostcap Panel and stop your Minecraft server
  2. Navigate to the Files section
  3. Locate and open the server.properties file
  4. Find the difficulty= line and change it to one of these options:
    • peaceful - Eliminates hostile mobs and enables rapid health regeneration
    • easy - Spawns hostile mobs with reduced damage output
    • normal - Standard difficulty with balanced mob damage and spawning
    • hard - Increases mob damage and unlocks additional hostile abilities
  5. Save your changes and restart the server

Your new difficulty setting will take effect immediately when players join the server.
