Changing Minecraft Server Seed and Server Name

Set custom world seeds and names for your Minecraft server

The Minecraft Server Seed is what controls the way in which your world is created from where the blocks and monuments are to biomes and structures. Here is how you can change the world seed. Leave the level-seed= blank if you want the seed to be random.

Changing Minecraft World Seed

  1. Login to the Ghostcap Panel and stop your minecraft server
  2. Go to Files
  3. Open server.properties and edit the level-seed=
  4. Click "Save File" and start your server

Change Your Minecraft Server Name

Your server name (also called the hostname or MOTD) is what players see when browsing for servers to join. Customizing this name helps your server stand out and gives players a clear idea of what to expect before they connect.

Steps to Change Your Server Name

  1. Log into your Ghostcap panel and stop your Minecraft server
  2. Navigate to the Files section
  3. Open the server.properties file
  4. Locate the motd= line and replace the existing text with your desired server name
  5. Save the file and restart your server

Your new server name will immediately appear in the server browser for all players searching for servers to join.
