How to Restore Palworld Server Backups - Automatic Backup Guide

Learn how to restore your Palworld server from automatic backups using Recovery Mode or manual methods

GhostCap Hosting automatically creates backup snapshots of your Palworld save files every few hours while your server is running. If you encounter a failed update or bug, you can easily restore to a previous point in time to recover your saved data.

Entering Recovery Mode and Restoring Backups (Recommended)

This is the easiest and safest way to restore your Palworld server from a backup.

  1. Log into the GhostCap Panel and select your Palworld server.
  2. On the left sidebar, go to Startup Parameters.
  3. Find the Boot Mode option and switch it from Normal to Recovery Mode.
  4. Head back to the console and start your server.
  5. Look through the available backups and enter the number that corresponds to the time you want to restore.
  6. Switch Boot Mode back to Normal and restart your server.

Manual Backup Restoration Guide

This method is for advanced users who prefer direct control or if Recovery Mode isn't working.

  1. Navigate to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/[Your Save File]/backup/world and download your chosen backup, then extract it.
  2. Log into the GhostCap Panel and stop your Palworld server.
  3. Open the File Manager from the panel.
  4. Browse to the Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/ directory.
  5. Look for a folder with a long random number sequence (example: 723687123871584930581). Upload your extracted backup files into this folder.
Note

If you have lots of player files, you may want to upload the files using SFTP for faster transfer speeds.
