GhostCap Hosting automatically creates backup snapshots of your Palworld save files every few hours while your server is running. If you encounter a failed update or bug, you can easily restore to a previous point in time to recover your saved data.
Entering Recovery Mode and Restoring Backups (Recommended)
This is the easiest and safest way to restore your Palworld server from a backup.
- Log into the GhostCap Panel and select your Palworld server.
- On the left sidebar, go to
Startup Parameters. - Find the
Boot Modeoption and switch it fromNormaltoRecovery Mode. - Head back to the console and start your server.
- Look through the available backups and enter the number that corresponds to the time you want to restore.
- Switch
Boot Modeback toNormaland restart your server.
Manual Backup Restoration Guide
This method is for advanced users who prefer direct control or if Recovery Mode isn't working.
- Navigate to
Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/[Your Save File]/backup/worldand download your chosen backup, then extract it. - Log into the GhostCap Panel and stop your Palworld server.
- Open the
File Managerfrom the panel. - Browse to the
Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/directory. - Look for a folder with a long random number sequence (example:
723687123871584930581). Upload your extracted backup files into this folder.
Note
If you have lots of player files, you may want to upload the files using SFTP for faster transfer speeds.
