How To Update Your Project Zomboid Server

This guide covers how to update your Project Zomboid server. By default, GhostCap Project Zomboid servers have automatic updates enabled and all you need to do is restart your server to apply an update.

Updating Your Server

Danger

Updating from B41 to B42 may require a full server reset due to incompatible world and mod files between versions.

  1. Access the GhostCap Panel and Stop your server.
  2. In the sidebar, go to Server Options.
  3. Find the Automatic Update setting and make sure it's enabled.
  4. Go to Console and Start your server.

Server Didn't Update?

  1. Make sure Automatic Update is enabled in Server Options, then Restart your server to force an update check.
  2. If your server still hasn't updated, go to Advanced > Server Actions.
  3. Click Reinstall Server. In the Reinstall Server? window, enable Backup Before Reinstall and leave Wipe All Files disabled so your saves are kept, then click Yes, Reinstall Server.
