How To Increase max players On Your Valheim Server - Valheim Guide

Here's how to increase max players to allow more than 10 players at once on your Valheim server.

By default, Valheim dedicated servers support up to 10 players; this can be increased by installing a mod such as Valheim Plus or MaxPlayerCount.

While this version of Valheim Plus is currently the most up-to-date, this may change in the future.

Caution

You may encounter performance issues or unexpected bugs with higher player counts, as Valheim is designed for up to 10 players; increase max players at your own risk.

Installing A max player mod

We recommend installing Valheim Plus due to it including a wider list of features; the only caveat is that all players connecting must also install this mod locally.

Log into your GhostCap panel and Stop your server.
Install Valheim Plus or MaxPlayerCount by following our Valheim Modding Guide.
Start your server.

Configuring max players

These are the steps to configure Valheim Plus as it's the most popular mod; the method for configuring MaxPlayerCount is very similar.

Log into your GhostCap panel and Stop your server.
Go to File Manager.
Navigate to /Bepinex/config/.
Open the configuration file of your installed mod, find and edit maxPlayers.
Click save, then start your server.

When starting your server you should now see: [Info :Valheim Plus] [Server] Updating maxPlayers from 10 to xx.
