This is what you do if you need to restore a backup on your Valheim server. This guide covers restoring world backups on your server and restoring local character backups.
World Backups
Follow these steps to restore your world to one of Valheim's automatic backups.
- Log into your GhostCap panel and
Stopyour server. - Go to
File Manager. - Navigate to
/.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local. - Delete your current
Dedicated.dbandDedicated.fwlfiles. - Rename your backup_auto_xxxx
.fwland.dbfiles toDedicated.fwlandDedicated.dbrespectively. - Start your server.
Note
Dedicated.db and Dedicated.fwl are the default names of your world files. The files you restore to must be from the same backup.
Character Backups
Here's how to restore your character to an earlier backup; this is useful if you've lost a tombstone or would simply like to play a previous version of your character.
- Open Valheim.
- From the main menu, click
Manage Saves. - Select
Characters. - Select your character and choose a backup, then click
Restore Backup.
