If you're hoping to play Hytale on PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch, you'll need to wait. The game launched in early access on January 13, 2026 on PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux), with console versions planned for later.
No Console Version Yet
Hytale's early access is PC-only. Before launch, Hypixel Studios explained in their FAQ:
"The early access of Hytale will only be on PC (MAC and Linux still TBD). We are planning for a console release at a later stage, but this requires a lot of work on backend systems to make this a reality. For now, we would like to focus on making a good game first."
This is a sensible approach. Porting to consoles adds significant development overhead—different control schemes, certification processes, platform-specific optimizations, and ongoing updates across multiple platforms. By focusing on PC first, Hypixel can iterate faster based on player feedback.
Will Hytale Come to PS5 and Xbox?
Most likely, yes—eventually. The developers have said they're "planning for a console release at a later stage," which suggests it's on their roadmap rather than being ruled out entirely.
However, there's no timeline. Console ports will likely come after Hytale leaves early access and reaches a more stable state. This could mean waiting a year or more after the PC launch.
What About Nintendo Switch?
No specific mention of Switch has been made. Given the system requirements for the PC version (which require a fairly capable CPU and SSD), a Switch port would likely need significant optimization work. It's possible but probably lower priority than PS5 and Xbox.
PC Requirements
If you want to play Hytale now, you'll need a PC. The game is available on Windows, Mac (Apple Silicon), and Linux. The minimum requirements include:
- Windows 10/11 64-bit (or Mac with M1+, or Linux x64)
- Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (minimum)
- 8-16GB RAM
- An SSD (required, not optional)

Why PC First?
For a game like Hytale that emphasizes modding and community content creation, PC makes sense as the lead platform. The modding tools, server hosting capabilities, and content creation features are all easier to support on an open platform.
Once those systems are stable and the core game is polished, bringing that experience to consoles becomes more feasible.
