This 7D2D sandbox code generator lets you build a complete 7 Days to Die V3.0 ruleset in your browser and copy the resulting SandboxCode straight into your game or server. Pick a difficulty preset to start, fine-tune any of the 150 sandbox settings, then grab your code.
Sandbox Code Generator
Dial in all 150 sandbox options, then copy the single SandboxCode into your serverconfig.xml or game panel.
Tip: paste a code straight into this box to load it, or build one with the options below.
Want to use this code on a real server?
Spin up a 7 Days to Die server in minutes and paste your SandboxCode straight into the panel.
Codes are generated client-side and match the in-game format from V3.0 “Dead Hot Summer.” Only options you change from their default are stored in the code, so it stays short and shareable. Paste it into the Sandbox Code field in-game or in your server's serverconfig.xml.
What Is a Sandbox Code in 7 Days to Die?
Before V3.0, you tuned your game by editing dozens of separate properties in serverconfig.xml, such as loot abundance, day length, zombie speed, and blood moon frequency, each on its own line. The V3.0 "Dead Hot Summer" update removed all of those individual properties and replaced them with one new value: SandboxCode.
A sandbox code is a compact string (for example AAAJABJACJADJARFBNC) that encodes your entire sandbox configuration. The first letter is a version marker, and everything after it stores only the options you changed from their defaults. That's why a code stays short even though there are 150 possible settings behind it: unchanged options are simply left out.
How to Use the Sandbox Code Generator
The tool above mirrors the in-game Sandbox Options menu, so you don't have to launch 7 Days to Die just to build a code:
- Start with a preset. Click a difficulty (Scavenger through Insane) or one of the official themed modes to load a baseline. The code at the top updates instantly.
- Tune individual settings. Use the category tabs or the search box to find an option, then click the arrows to cycle its value. Anything you change from default is highlighted in amber.
- Copy your code. Hit Copy Code to put the SandboxCode on your clipboard, or Copy share link to share a URL that loads your exact setup.
- Load an existing code. Already have a code from a friend or a preset pack? Paste it straight into the Sandbox Code box at the top and the options update to match, so you can pick up where they left off.
Where to Paste Your Sandbox Code
Once you have a code, there are three places it can go:
- In-game: Open Play Game → New Game → Sandbox Options and paste the code into the Sandbox Code field.
- Dedicated server: Set the
SandboxCodeproperty inside yourserverconfig.xml. This single value replaces the long list of gameplay properties you used to edit by hand. Our full 7 Days to Die dedicated server guide walks through the rest of the config file. - Hosted server: Most control panels now have a dedicated Sandbox Code box in the basic settings. Paste it there, save, and restart.
What You Can Customize
The generator covers all 150 V3.0 sandbox options, grouped the same way the game does:
| Category | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Player | Damage dealt and taken, movement speed, stamina, XP, death penalties |
| Entities | Zombie speed, enemy spawns, blood moon size and frequency, feral senses |
| World | Day length, loot respawn, air drops, storms, game stage modifiers |
| Resources | Loot abundance per category, loot stage, treasure map chance |
| Crafting | Crafting time and yield, scrapping output, repair rules, item degradation |
| Traders | Trader hours, reset timers, buy/sell prices, protection |
| Tasks | Quest types, daily quest limits, intro quest |
| Misc | Vehicle damage and fuel use, electrical output, and other toggles |
Because only changed values are stored, you can hand-craft a hardcore survival run or a near-creative build server and still end up with a code short enough to drop in a Discord message.
Difficulty Presets Explained
If you just want a balanced starting point, the difficulty presets map to the in-game options:
- Scavenger: Beginner. Forgiving combat and generous resources.
- Adventurer: Casual. The default new-survivor experience.
- Nomad: Standard. The baseline 7 Days to Die balance.
- Warrior: Challenging. Tougher, smarter zombies.
- True Survivalist: Hardcore. Scarce loot and lethal hordes.
- Insane: Extreme. Razor-thin survival margins.
Load any preset, then tweak the handful of settings you care about, and the code updates as you go.
