How To Change The Version Of Your Valheim Server - Valheim Guide

If you'd prefer an alternative version rather than the current public release, here's how to change the version of your Valheim server.

Danger

Changing server versions may cause issues with your world save, so make sure you always take a backup first. We also recommend enabling Wipe All Files during the reinstall for a fresh installation. GhostCap officially only supports the main, public branch of the game.

Changing Steam Beta Version

Access the GhostCap Panel and Stop your server.
Navigate to Server Options in the sidebar.
Modify the Steam Beta Branch field with your desired branch name.
Go to Advanced → Server Actions.
Select Reinstall Server. In the Reinstall Server? window, enable Backup Before Reinstall and Wipe All Files for a fresh installation, then click Yes, Reinstall Server.

Available Branches

A list of available beta branches can be found on SteamDB. The primary and recommended option is the public branch, which represents the latest stable version.
