How To Setup A Deadlock Dedicated Server

Setting up a Deadlock dedicated server lets you host custom matches with friends. This guide shows you how to create your own server using Easy SteamCMD, a free tool that handles server installation and updates. You'll need a Steam account with Deadlock access - see our Deadlock invite guide if you need help getting access.

How To Set up a Deadlock PC Dedicated Server

  1. Download Easy SteamCMD.

  2. Extract the files to C:\deadlock\ on your computer.

  3. Replace easysteamcmd-config.txt contents with the Deadlock configuration.

  4. Add your Steam credentials: STEAM_LOGIN= and STEAM_PASSWORD= (requires Deadlock access).

  5. Run easysteamcmd.bat and install any required components.

  6. Your server runs on YourPublicIP:27015. Start it anytime with easysteamcmd.bat.

Note: Keep credentials for auto-updates. You can play while hosting.

Finding Your IP Address

To connect to your server, find your IP address:

Local IP (Windows)

  1. Press Win + R to open Run dialog.

  2. Type cmd and press Enter.

  3. Type ipconfig and press Enter.

  4. Find IPv4 Address (typically 192.168.1.xxx).

Public IP

  1. Open your web browser.

  2. Visit WhatIsMyIP or search "What is my IP".

  3. Your public IP displays on the page.

CGNAT Warning: If your ISP uses CGNAT, external connections won't work. Contact your ISP to check.

Connection Types

  • Local IP: Same network
  • Public IP: Internet connections

Port Forwarding Setup

For internet connections, configure port forwarding:

  1. Access router admin panel (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1)

  2. Navigate to port forwarding section

  3. Create new rule:

    • Service Name: Deadlock
    • Port: 27015 (internal/external)
    • Local IP: Your PC's IP
    • Protocol: UDP/TCP
  4. Save and restart router if needed

Players join by pressing F7 in-game and typing: connect YourPublicIP:27015

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Server not visible: Check firewall settings and ensure port 27015 is open. Windows Firewall may block the connection by default.

High ping or lag: Deadlock servers require good upload speed.

Connection timeouts: Verify your public IP hasn't changed. Dynamic IPs can change after router restarts.

Performance Optimization

For better performance, close unnecessary programs while hosting. Deadlock servers benefit from dedicated resources, similar to CS2 server hosting requirements.

Conclusion

Your Deadlock server is now ready! Easy SteamCMD handles automatic updates for the best experience. Remember to use local IP for same-network connections and public IP for internet players.
