Hytale will have native Mac support for Apple Silicon when early access launches on January 13, 2026. However, the release is currently blocked by Apple's signing certificate process.
Mac Version Status
Hypixel Studios has confirmed that Hytale for Mac is ready internally. The team uses it to play and even develop on. The only thing preventing release is Apple's signing certificate, which is required to distribute Mac applications.
From their December 2025 update:
"We WOULD be ready to launch for native MacOS (Apple Silicon / M Chips) - however we are missing the signing certificate. The ticket keeps being reset in the queue and we have to keep calling them."
Once the certificate is obtained, Mac support will be available.
Apple Silicon Only
Hytale will only support Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4 chips). Intel Macs are not supported.
The team explained:
"We will NOT launch Hytale for Intel Macs as Apple themselves abandon them in the next macOS version. We are a small team and there is no way we can support abandoned platforms."
This makes sense given Apple's transition away from Intel. If you have an older Intel Mac, you won't be able to play Hytale natively.
Mac System Requirements
Official requirements are still being finalized. The team has confirmed:
- M3 chips and newer are tested and working
- They're working backwards to find the minimum supported chip
- Requirements will be similar to Windows specs
Based on this, expect M1 or M2 as the likely minimum. Final requirements will be posted on the Hytale blog and store pages.
Options for Intel Mac Users
If you have an Intel-based Mac, your options are limited:
Use a Windows PC. If you have access to a Windows computer that meets the system requirements, that's your best option.
Virtual machines. Tools like Parallels Desktop can run Windows, but gaming performance varies. This is not officially supported.
Wait and see. The community may find ways to run Hytale through compatibility layers, but this won't be officially supported.
Cross-Play with Windows and Linux
While not explicitly confirmed, Mac players will likely be able to join the same servers as Windows and Linux players. The game uses the same codebase across platforms.
Linux Also Launching
Hytale is also launching with experimental Linux support (x64, not ARM) using flatpak. The team has developers who work natively on Linux, so expect support to improve over time.
