Having trouble connecting to Hytale servers? If your singleplayer works fine but multiplayer is painfully slow or the world won't load, you're likely experiencing a network driver issue.
This guide will walk you through fixing slow connections and world loading problems when joining Hytale servers.
Symptoms
You might be experiencing this issue if:
- Your internet connection is generally stable and fast (YouTube videos play fine)
- Singleplayer worlds load and play normally
- Connecting to a server or friend is extremely slow
- The world doesn't load when you join a server
- Your friend can see you move but you can't do anything on your end
- You're on Windows
What Causes This Problem?
Some network devices, particularly Intel and Realtek adapters, have rare driver issues with the QUIC protocol that Hytale uses. QUIC is a modern network protocol that isn't always fully supported by older or buggy network drivers.
This is a known issue that affects both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, and it's unlikely to be fixed with a driver update.
How To Confirm This Is Your Problem
Before diving into the solutions, you can verify this is affecting you:
- Connect an Ethernet USB dongle to your computer
- Try connecting to the Hytale server through that adapter
- If it works, follow the solutions below for your main network adapter
How To Access Network Adapter Settings
Before trying the solutions, you need to access your network adapter properties:
- Open the Start Menu and type "View network connections"
- Click the Control Panel link that appears
- Find and select the network connection you use for internet (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
- Right-click and select Properties
- Click Configure
- Go to the Advanced tab
Now try each solution below, testing your connection after each one.
Solution 1: Disable Priority & VLAN
This is the simplest fix and works for many users:
- In the Advanced tab, find Priority & VLAN
- Set it to Priority & VLAN Disabled
- Click OK and wait for your internet connection to restore
- Try connecting to the Hytale server again
Solution 2: Disable Receive Segment Coalescing
If Solution 1 didn't work:
- Find Recv. Segment Coalescing (IPv4) and set it to Disabled
- Find Recv. Segment Coalescing (IPv6) and set it to Disabled
- Click OK and wait for your internet connection to restore
- Try connecting to the server again
Solution 3: Disable Power Saving Features
Still not working? Try disabling these power-saving and optimization features:
- Set Advanced EEE to Disabled
- Set ARP Offload to Disabled
- Set Energy-Efficient Ethernet to Disabled
- Set Flow Control to Disabled
- Set Green Ethernet to Disabled
- Click OK and wait for your internet connection to restore
- Try connecting to the server again
Solution 4: Full Network Adapter Reset (Nuclear Option)
If none of the above solutions worked, you'll need to apply a comprehensive set of changes. Warning: This is invasive and may be difficult to reverse without reinstalling your network driver.
Set these values in your network adapter's Advanced tab:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Advanced EEE | Disabled |
| ARP Offload | Disabled |
| EEE Max Support Speed | 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex |
| Energy-Efficient Ethernet | Disabled |
| Flow Control | Disabled |
| Gigabit Lite | Disabled |
| Green Ethernet | Disabled |
| Interrupt Moderation | Disabled |
| IPv4 Checksum Offload | Rx & Tx Enabled |
| Jumbo Frame | Disabled |
| Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4) | Disabled |
| Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6) | Disabled |
| Maximum Number of RSS Queues | 4 Queues |
| Network Address | Not Present |
| NS Offload | Disabled |
| Power Saving Mode | Disabled |
| Priority & VLAN | Disabled |
| Receive Buffers | 512 |
| Receive Side Scaling | Enabled |
| Shutdown Wake-On-Lan | Disabled |
| Speed & Duplex | Auto |
| TCP Checksum Offload (IPv4) | Disabled |
| TCP Checksum Offload (IPv6) | Disabled |
| Transmit Buffers | 1024 (or 2048) |
| UDP Checksum Offload (IPv4) | Disabled |

| VLAN ID | 0 |
| Wake on Magic Packet | Disabled |
| Wake on magic packet when system is in S0ix power state | Disabled |
| Wake on pattern match | Disabled |
| WOL & Shutdown Link Speed | Not Speed Down |
Click OK and restart your computer before testing.
Still Having Issues?
If you've tried all the solutions and still can't connect:
- Consider using a USB Ethernet adapter as a workaround
- Check if your network adapter has a newer driver available
- Try connecting from a different computer to rule out server issues
